The Backstory

I met Ryan late December, 2008 randomly in Indianapolis. It happened to be a good friend's birthday but I was pursuaded to go out with other friends prior to the birthday event. We were in touch for a bit and then in February he asked me out. On our very first date he had told me all about his recent vacation to Maine. He and his friends had gone on a big cross country excursion and he told me that someday he would like to move to Maine. I think nothing of it, really.

As it turned out, Ryan and I hit it off amazingly well. Summer came along and he suggested we go to Maine and kayak with his best friend and his wife. I had never been before but was anxious to try so I say okay. We visited Maine in July and Ryan proposed during our kayak trip at sunset. I said yes! Ryan shows me all around Portland and we enjoy the rest of our week. Upon return to Indianapolis, I figure that Ryan and I have been in ten airports in the five months that we've been together and I joke that we should get married there.

So we get back to Indy and Ryan keeps dropping hints about moving. Ryan ends up getting laid off in August and suggests that if we can sell the house, we should move. I have a printing and design background, but was working as a commercial real estate broker (we all know how that's going) and was ready for a change so I was game.
